CALVERT TRUST KIELDER WATER
Based close to the side of Kielder Water in Northumberland, this Calvert Trust is mainly geared to providing activity breaks for people with disabilities.
However, that is not all it does, as the centre caters for families as well as the more elderly and less active in order to make it an ideal holiday location for everyone
In the main building there are 24 rooms – 12 suitable for individuals needing respite support, and 12 for those who do not need any care – and in the grounds there are chalets capable of sleeping between 4 and 8 people. In all the chalets, at least one bed has hoisting capabilities and a wet room.
On site there is a lounge, bar, TV room, sensory room, sauna, hydrotherapy pool, games room and dining room. Cabins have a kitchen and lounge as well as bedrooms and bathrooms.
Aromatherapy and reflexology can be arranged for those who would like a bit of pampering!
There are extensive grounds with plenty of walks. Buggy rides can also be arranged for those who find walking difficult. In the grounds are plenty of activities including zip coaster, big swing, high wires and archery, and close by on Kielder Water there is kayaking, canoeing and sailing, which can be undertaken by people with disabilities as well as the able-bodied. In fact, the whole place is geared to provide a great break for everyone irrespective of their condition or age!
Individuals can make their own arrangements to go at a time that suits them and we will provide financial support. However twice a year we will be taking over much of the site for those who enjoy organised breaks.
In 2022, these will take place on:
11 – 18 April and 4 – 11 October.
