The keystone of our activity is to provide support for people who qualify for assistance, as defined in our objective, to have a short term break and this we mainly do through the provision of grants towards the cost.

However, in 2021, we set up an arrangement with the Calvert Trust at Kielder Water, Northumberland and provided a one-week break at the Trust which enabled qualifying individuals to have a holiday break, either on their own, with a friend or with their family.

This week proved so successful that two further weeks are now planned for 2022, details of which can be found on our "Calvert Trust" page.

As well as helping to pay for holiday breaks, and arranging our own holidays at Calvert Trust, we also work closely with "Wet Wheels", a charitable organisation that operates from Whitby taking groups out onto the North Sea in their Catamaran to see the wild life. Each trip takes a maximum of 10 people, including up to three wheelchairs, and lasts about 90 minutes. To date we have taken people with MS, MND, Parkinson's, Downs Syndrome, and Strokes. WE also offer the facility to carer's groups to give them a break. Details can be found on our "Wet Wheels" page.

In January 2020, we took over the running of the FRIDAY CAFE from the York MS Group. Sadly, we had to close down very shortly afterwards because of COVID and, as a result, had to find a new venue when restrictions were lifted. Fortunately the café at Murton, York stepped in and we will be restarting the café in the beginning of 2022. See our café page.
